| • | Edington. Small village in Wiltshire, about 5 miles east of Westbury. Home to Edington Priory and the annual Edington Music Festival. Although unremarkable in many ways, the village commands a vital place in English history. For it was here that Alfred The Great won a decisive battle against the Danes, and arguably laid the foundations of modern England.
