| • | Whitburn is a town in West Lothian, Scotland.
The town was once dominated by Polkemet Colliery - a large coal mine - but this was badly damaged by an underground fire during the miners strike in the 1980s and never re-opened. The colliery buildings and the coal bings that once were so prominent have now been removed.
The 2001 census recorded a population of 10,391.
