John Cunningham (June 28, 1897 - February 21, 1941) was an English recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. He was 19 years old, and a Private in the 12th (Service) Battalion, (the Hull Sportsmen's Pals battalion), The East Yorkshire Regiment, 31st Division during the First World War, at the Battle of the Somme, when the following deed took place for which he was awarded the VC.
