One, Two, Three is a spoken word game for two players. It is a non-competitive game, in which both players try to win co-operatively. Play begins when each players thinks of a noun at random. Both players count together, "one, two, three," and then on the fourth beat, they each say their noun. If both nouns are the same, then the game is over. This rarely happens on the first round. To progress to the next round, each player thinks of a noun that is somehow related to both of the nouns that were just spoken. When ready, both players count to three again, and say their new nouns. Play continues until both players manage to converge on the same word at the same time.
The only rules are that nouns already used may not be repeated. Nouns may consist of more than one word, e.g., "The United Nations".
Here is a very short sample game; remember that both players count together and speak simultaneously:
1... 2... 3...Player 1: The United Nations!Player 2: Baklava!
1... 2... 3...Player 1: Greece!Player 2: Greece!
This game was over in two rounds. A more typical game will last at least four or five rounds. Players may agree to count it as a success if they say minor variations of the same word, such as "horse" and "horses."
