| • | Archer City is a city located in Archer County, Texas. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 1,848. It is the county seat of Archer County. The town is named for Branch Tanner Archer, a commissioner for the Republic of Texas. Its most famous native son is the author Larry McMurtry, whose fence is now covered with paintballs.
