| • | Bucksnort, Tennessee is a small community located in Hickman County, Tennessee, USA. It occupies Exit 152 on Interstate 40 a few miles east of the Tennessee River. There is no U.S. Census data for the location and there is no post office. Bucksnort contains more than one gas station and one or two (adult) bookstores. The origin of the name is relayed as such: There was a still owned by a man named Buck who lived in the area. Those who purchased his wares told others they were going to Buck's to get a snort. It was soon shortened to "Buck's Snort" and today's Bucksnort. A more plausible story: Though whitetail deer prolificly populate the area now, Bucksnort received its name from the seldom heard snort of a buck deer that lived there on Sugar Creek. The BP gas station is open continuously, and sells t-Shirts bearing the likeness of a passed out hillbilly. Wrestlers Bunkhouse Buck and "Dirty White Boy" Tony Anthony, aka T.L. Hopper, call Bucksnort home. Hickman County, Tennessee Source: [wikipedia: bucksnort, tennessee]
