| • | Midlothian (Meadhan Lodainn in Gaelic) is one of 32 unitary council regions in Scotland, and a Lieutenancy Area. It borders onto Scottish Borders, East Lothian and City of Edinburgh.
It is also a traditional county, which borders West Lothian to the west, Lanarkshire and Peeblesshire to the south, and Berwickshire and East Lothian to the east. It includes the city of Edinburgh, and is sometimes known as Edinburghshire.
