| • | Philosophy is a body of knowledge, in which the definition of knowledge itself is in flux, with subjects that span the nature of the universe, the mind, and the body; the relationships between all three, and between each of the three to itself. Philosophy is a field of inquiry, the pursuit of wisdom; the predecessor of science, and now its complement, pondering those questions which science is not designed to answer. Philosophy is the foundation upon which all belief structures and fields of knowledge are built. It examines and influences the structure and procedures of such diverse fields as history, language, religion, law, psychology, and science, to name but a few. It even examines its own structure and procedures. Philosophy is a rich literary heritage, comprised of the writings of the most profound thinkers throughout history, on the most profound subjects. They have designed systems of thinking. Applying these systems, they have pondered (and still ponder) the most perplexing questions of the time, such as "What do we know?", "How do we know it?", "What is right and wrong?", "What responsibilities, if any, do we have to the human race as a whole?", "What is sanity?", "What is intelligence?", "What makes things beautiful?", "Is there life after death?", and "What is the meaning of life, anyways?" While philosophers seek truth, philosophy, above all else, is the love of wisdom. Source: [wikipedia: philosophy]
