As of 2003, the town has an estimated population of 10,403 and the density of 275.58 persons per km². The total area is 37.75 km². Additionally, Kin is home to some of the finest awamori of the main island of Okinawa. It is also home to Camp Hansen; a U.S. Marine Corps base that supports ground combat, communications, Marine Corps Force Recon, 31st MEU(SOC) and other battle elements.
