| • | Fall River is a suburb of Halifax, Nova Scotia (Canada), to the north of Bedford and east of Sackville.
There are many lakes in Fall River and its surrounding communities of Waverley, Windsor Junction and Lakeview. There is an eighteen-hole golf course, Ashburn Golf Club [HTTP ], and a park, Laurie Provincial Park [HTTP ].
Lake Thomas and Fletcher's Lake in Fall River form a section of the Shubenacadie Canal, which connects the Bay of Fundy with the Halifax Harbour.
Fall River is named from a river running between Miller Lake and Lake Thomas. The Falls of Fall River were demolished in the 1960s during the construction of the Bicentennial (102) Highway leading to Halifax.
Fall River, along with neighboring Windsor Junction and Lakeview (LWF), holds an annual celebration called Keloose Days. They have the largest and most elaborate annual fireworks display in Nova Scotia.
Fall River is 5 minutes from Bedford and 20 minutes from both Dartmouth and Halifax. It is a lush suburban community providing the quiet of the country combined with a central location allowing easy access to the city.
Fall River has been expanding rapidly over the past 10 years with the construction of a Sobeys and surrounding shopping centre, Mcdonalds, and Tim Hortons. Lockview High School opened its doors in 2001 to relieve strain on the aging C.P. Allen High School in Bedford. It caters to students in grades 9 through 12 from Fall River as well as Beaverbank, and currently has an enrollment of approximately 1300 students.
Fall River has two elementary schools, Holland Road Elementary School and Ash Lee Jefferson Elementary School as well as one Junior High - Georges P. Vanier.
The two major subdivisions in Fall River are Schwarzwald and Fall River Village. Fall River Village was established in 1973 with over 1000 acres (4 km²) of land and 200 acres yet to be developed. Schwarzwald has in the past year started development of a new section Schwarzwald Heights.
Plans are underway for a new Fire Station and Recreation/sports center in the Fall River-Waverley area.
The Fall River Professional centre houses a doctor's office, pharmacy, Dentist's office, and chiropractor.
