| • | Meductic a small village located along the St. John River in southern New Brunswick. 2001 census data show the village to have a population of 189. Its name is derived from the Maliseet word "Medoctic", meaning "the end". Bishop Jean-Baptiste de La Croix visited the area on the way to Port-Royal. He wrote: "Megogtek is the first fort in Acadia". Today's spelling has been in use since since the mid-1800's. Today Meductic is home to a few quaint businesses including a bed and breakfast and gas station. A long time restaurant closed it's doors in 2004 after the opening of the new 4-lane Trans Canada Highway, which caused a dramatic drop in traffic on what is now Route 165. Sabian Cymbals Limited, a Meductic business, is well known on the international music scene as a supplier of finely crafted cymbals. Sabian is a major employer in the area, creating jobs for dozens of people. Communities in New Brunswick Source: [wikipedia: meductic, new brunswick]
