| • | ]]Biddeford is a city located in York County, Maine, United States. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 20,942.
Settled in the 1620ࢀ&#-2509;, Biddeford serves as the commercial and industrial center of York County. During the mid-1800s, the Saco River waterfalls were harnessed and major textile manufacturing facilities were constructed along the riverbanks. These mills attracted waves of immigrants, most notably French-Canadian workers from the Province of Quebec. At one time the textile mills employed as many as 12,000 people.
