| • | The Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi Railroad is a Class III short-line railroad headquartered in Crossett, Arkansas. ALM operates 53 miles of line from Crossett to Monroe, Louisiana. ALM interchanges with Kansas City Southern at Monroe and with Fordyce and Princeton Railroad at Crossett, and then via trackage rights to Fordyce, Arkansas, where it connects with Union Pacific. ALM traffic generally consists of lumber, paper, forest products, and chemicals. The line was opened on October 1 1908 as the Arkansas, Louisiana and Gulf Railway. The line changed hands several times, the last being the purchase of ALM in January 2004 by Genesee and Wyoming, a holding company operating several short line railroads throughout the United States.
