| • | Bosa is a town in Sardinia, a poor region of Italy. Bosa is situated about two-thirds of the way up the west coast of Sardinia, on a small hill, about 3 kilometers inland on the north bank of the Temo River. It has had about nine thousand people for a significant amount of time, but has an urban character that has differentiatied it from other locations in Sardinia. It has highly stratified classes, has acted as a market and political center, and has had some rudimentary industry. It also has had successful agriculture and fishing, because it is in the river valley near the coast, surrounded by hills and highland plateaus. In the lasy thirty years, Bosa has became tied to capitalist society and the market, importing much of their goods and exporting much less. Counihan, Carole. The Anthropology of Food and Body.
