| • | The constructed language Interlingua is an international auxiliary language (IAL) based largely on the Romance languages. It was published in 1951 by the International Auxiliary Language Association (IALA). In appearance, it combines a Latin-Romance vocabulary with a simplified Romance grammar, and thus it is often referred to as a modernized and simplified Latin. It is sometimes called IALA Interlingua to distinguish it from the other uses of interlingua.
