It was founded in famous U Fleků pub in Prague (then also a part of Austro-Hungarian Empire) by group of students from Split (Fabijan Kaliterna, Lucijan Stella, Ivan Šakić i Vjekoslav Ivanišević). They went to the pub right after the match between Sparta and Slavia and liked the sport so much that they decided to bring the game to their Dalmatian hometown. The club was officially registered with the authorities on February 13, 1911. The name originates from the hajduks, romantic bandits that fought the Ottoman Turks. In 1945, Hajduk exchanged the Croatian crest with a red star on their logo, symbolising communism and the fans' attachment to the new regime (like Dinamo Zagreb, Crvena Zvezda and FK Partizan. In 1991 the club reverted to its old logo. Hajduk kit is white shirt and blue shorts. Hajduk won two Yugoslav (kingdom) championships, nine Yugoslav (socialist federal republic) championships, seven Croatian championships, as well as eight Yugoslav Cup titles , four Croatian Cups and six super cups. Abroad, it played in the quarterfinals of the Champions Cup (now UEFA Champions League) three times, reached late stages of the Cup Winners' Cup twice, as well as twice in the UEFA Cup. Hajduk's stadium is Poljud. The fans are called Torcida(since 1950) as they copied their name from the Brazilian fan groups, which are named torcidas, from the portuguese 'torcer', to cheer on. Supporters popularly call players of Hajduk bili (plural form of white in Dalmatian dialect). Source: [wikipedia: hajduk split]
