| • | The Plymouth, Devonport and South Western Junction Railway (1890-1966 (part)) was built by an independant company but operated by the London and South Western Railway as part of its main line to give it independant access to Plymouth. A branch from Bere Alston to Callington was opened 1908 using the newly built Bere Alston and Calstock Light Railway and the re-gauged East Cornwal Minerals Railway ; section to Gunnislake still operating. The Branch was engineered under the supervision of H F Stephens with the consulting engineers Galbraith and Church and was not operated by the London and South Western but as an independant railway . It was absorbed by the Southern Railway at the Grouping. Source: [wikipedia: plymouth, devonport and south western junction railway]
