| • | Kashiwa (柏市 Kashiwa-shi) is a city located in Chiba, Japan. As of 2005, the city has an estimated population of 380,435 and the density of 3,311.01 persons per km². The total area is 114.90 km². The city was founded on September 1, 1954, as a merger of townships in the area around the train station and current city center. The centre of the city is dominated by the large multi-story station and the neighbouring Takashimaya department store. Through the Kashiwa International Relations Association, the city of Kashiwa maintains relationships with cities in China, Guam, and the continental United States.
