| • | Bacoor is a 1st class municipality in the province of Cavite, Philippines. The town has an area of 52.4 square kilometers, located on the southeastern shore of Manila Bay, at the northwest portion of the province. To the east lies Las Piñas City and Muntinlupa City in Metro Manila, to the south is Dasmariñas, and to the west are Kawit and Imus. Bacoor is separated from Las Piñas by the Zapote River.
Its location just southwest of Metro Manila has given it the nickname Cavite's gateway to Metro Manila. Bacoor is one of the fastest growing municipalities in Cavite because of its location. 2 SM malls are located in Bacoor. Dasmariñas is the only municipality in the Philippines that has both an SM and Robinsons while Bacoor is the only municipality that has 2 SM malls located in Tirona cor Aguinaldo and in Molino. During weekdays many residents commute from Bacoor to their places of work in the metropolis such as Manila and Makati City. Bacoor is the second most populous municipality/city in Cavite after Dasmariñas and has the highest population density.
According to the 2000 census, Bacoor has a population of 305,699 people in 64,067 households. It is part of the 1st congressional district of Cavite.
Bacoor registered the highest average family income in Cavite in 1997 and 2000. Bacoor has developed into a site of commerce. Bacoor has branches of 11 different commercial banks all over the municipality.
Bacoor together with Imus and Dasmariñas meets almost all the qualification of becoming a city but hindered by some opposition. Cityhood is possible by 2010 or earlier.
Bacoor, Imus and Dasmariñas are considered the key cities (even though they are not yet cities) or key areas in Cavite.
