It is located approximately 56 kilometers southwest of Palm Springs, 230 kilometers southeast of Los Angeles, California and approximately 120 kilometers northeast of San Diego, California, being traversed by state highway 371.
In local vernacular Anza, California is refered to as "the Hill", with local residents priding themselves in low crime, community spirit as well as a history and local culture, uniquely influenced by the Cahuilla Indians.
As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of (appr. 2100).
