Blackwell is a village in Derbyshire, England.
It is approximately 3½ miles from Alfreton.
Blackwell's most famous former resident was Percy Toplis – The Monocled Mutineer – who was born and raised in Blackwell and went on to become a mutineer and conman during and after World War I. Toplis, while wanted for treason, was eventually shot and killed by police officers on the Scottish Borders. A Television series based on the life of the Monocled Mutineer was written by Alan Bleasdale in 1986 and broadcast on the BBC.
The main industry of Blackwell was coal mining, until the mine was closed in 1967; since then it has been light industry.
Blackwell forms part of Bolsover constituency; the MP is Dennis Skinner (Labour) a noted firebrand in the House of Commons.
