Scotch college South Australia was founded in 1919, and was officially incorporated under an Act of Parliament in 1922.The school was founded in the memory of the sons of Scotland who fought and died in The Great War of 1914-1918. Originally a boys school, Scotch became co-educational in 1975.
It is located on two properties totaling twenty hectares in Torrens Park, in the vicinity of the suburb of Mitchim, 8 kilometres south of the City of Adelaide [HTTP ], in the foot hills of the Mount Lofty Ranges.
The school is administered by a council of governors in colaboration with the Uniting Church. Scotch offers a liberal education based on Christian values.
Scotch admits boarders from years seven to twelve/thirteen.
Scotch is considered the most prestigious private school in South Australia, and is incidentally the most expensive independant school in South Australia, reaching $15 020.00 a year for senior student fees. Though more popular for elite boys Scotch is co-educational.Notables ranging from sports stars like Eayne Phillips and Supreme Sourt Judges to the sons of wealthy land owners such as Trevor Smyth.
